Hadovciar (Elaphocordyceps species) assists in the protection of brain cells. It may inhibit the death of brain cells and the memory loss caused by Alzheimer’s disease and may reduce the amount of harmful substances in the brain.

Elaphocordyceps species as well grows in Eastern Europe but being a tiny and rare mushroom, it is hard to find in the wild. However, you may come across some in pine forests from November.  A parasitic mushroom, it grows on the fruiting body of Elaphomyces under the ground. Because of its rarity in the wild,  the growing technology of this mushroom has already been founded.

In folk medicine it is used against depression, stress and fatigue. In vivo experiments showed that it was able to inhibit brain cell death and memory loss caused by Alzheimer’s disease. In the experiment comparing the effectiveness of 20 polysaccharide extracts, the Elaphocordyceps species proved to be the most effective from this respect.
